Snacking while Dieting?
It is actually good to eat 3 meals and two snacks an day, especially if youíre on a diet or want to stabilize your weight, as it means that your blood sugar levels will stay stable and you shouldnít get hunger pangs or crave bad foods. Of course, it depends on the snacks that you eat. Make sure that they are healthy snacks, and that you eat something small between breakfast and lunch and another small snack between lunch and dinner.
Snacks such as crisp, chocolate, sweets and other sugar and fat laden products are obviously off the menu. Make sure that your snacks are filling and nutritious. Also, donít eat too many of them, as a lot of low calorie food, equals a lot of calories in total. Make sure that they are fairly high in fibre and essential nutrients.
A few nuts can be a nutritious snack, providing you with healthy oils as well. But, they are high in calories, so be careful how many you eat. Just eat a few and if you canít stop at that then donít eat any!
Fresh fruit is also a great in between snack, but remember, donít eat more than two portions a day. Healthy snacks include an apple, a pear, a spoonful of berries a kiwi or a slice of chilled melon in the summer. Dried fruit can be very sugary, so again, like nuts, just a few pieces.
Dairy products can also be good snacks, depending on what kind of diet you are on. A slice of low fat cheese, a spoonful of low fat cottage cheese, a low fat fruit or plain yogurt, are all good. Or even a small smoothie. Of course, you have to make sure that you donít overstep your daily recommended calorie intake that came with the diet that you are on.
Vegetable sticks make a great snack, especially carrots, celery and slices of cucumber. Enjoy them alone or with a dip. If you eat organic, then get extra vitamins by just brushing and then washing the skin and eating it.
Protein snacks could be a thin slice of lean turkey or chicken. Also, have a look for diet snacks in the supermarket or health food shops.

No matter whether or not youíre on a diet, you should drink about 3 litres of liquid a day. As a lot of our food contains water, it is estimated that 8 glasses or cups a day should be enough. Of course, if you exercise, if itís hot or if there are any other changes to a normal environment, ten you may need to drink more or less.
Still water is great, try bottled, or get a filter if you donít like tap water
Herbal tea, without extra sugar
A small glass of fruit juice, but make sure it fits into your daily fruit allowance
If you want to drink alcohol, donít do it very often, as alcohol contains a lot of calories and also tends to dehydrate you. If you do drink, try a wine spritzer, a small glass of red wine. Avoid beer.
