When you are on the Pineapple Diet you only eat pineapple and drink pineapple juice, as the title suggests. There are about 1000 kcal in 2 kg of pineapples and this hast o be consumed during the day. Pineapples are rich in Vitamin C, thiamine, potassium and manganese.
Pineapples contain valuable nutrients such as vitamins and enzymes (e.g. bromelain), but unfortunately pineapples also contain a lot of fruit sugar, which is quickly converted to fat, when you eat so many as you do on this diet.
It is not a varied diet and you actually lose weight in the beginning in the form of water. It is not suitable for the long term, as there is a high risk of protein and fibre. But, to stay healthy we need to eat a balanced diet.
It is against human nature to eat only one kind of food for a long time, we need a healthy balanced diet with carbs, protein and fat to give us all the vitamins and minerals we need. At the start of the pineapple diet you lose muscle protein and this is not recommended as a way to lose weight.
