Anti Obesity Pills Anti Obesity Pills, what´s this and how do they work?
Originally hailed as a revolutionary diet pill that was only available on prescription, Reductil was withdrawn from the UK market in January 2010 due to health risks. However, it is still available online.
Reductil capsules contain the active ingredient sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate, which is a type of anti-obesity medicine. It affects neurotransmitters in the brain and makes the body think that you are full and no longer hungry, i.e. it’s a strong appetite suppressant.
Neurotransmitters transmit messages between the nerve cells. Sibutramine prevents noradrenaline and serotonin, from being reabsorbed by the nerve cells. Noradrenaline and serotonin are responsible for moderating our mood and functions in our brain.
Reductil is believed to increase the amount of noradrenaline and serotonin in the brain, so you feel full after eating.
When taking the medicine you were supposed to follow a balanced diet and exercise regime, as prescribed by a medical professional.
Reductil was originally designed for obese patients, with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher or type 2 diabetics, or those with high cholesterol and a BMI of 27 or more.
In January 2010 Reductil was removed from the UK market. It was reviewed by the EMA (European Medicines Agency) and the review lists an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes as possible side effects of taking Reductil.
